Invisalign

Malocclusion, the medical term for unevenly spaced, twisted, or otherwise crooked teeth, presents a problematic situation for many. This condition creates a less-than-ideal oral environment, one that is more prone to disease and decay. Despite the pitfalls of crooked teeth, many opt to forgo treatment in avoidance of clunky metal braces.

Invisalign® clear aligners offer a discreet solution to a crooked smile. The innovation has made straightening smiles easier and more convenient for the last decade.

At Amboy Dental Arts, Dr. DeSciscio and his team stand by Invisalign clear braces as the leading solution to malocclusion. This method offers many benefits as opposed to traditional metal braces, which can significantly impact a patient’s lifestyle. Daily life with the Invisalign system is easy to accommodate, as the clear aligners are:

Removable – Patients can take their aligners out during meal time, important events, photoshoots, and to brush and floss.

Simple to Clean – Patients need simply rinse their aligners with water and gently scrub them with a toothpaste-free, soft bristled toothbrush to keep their aligners fresh.

Comfortable – Invisalign® is made from smooth plastic and does not contain any sharp edges or points that can injure soft tissue, such as your tongue or the inside of your cheeks. With traditional metal braces, many report discomfort from the friction of the metal against the more delicate parts of the mouth.

The Invisalign Procedure

Before beginning your treatment, Dr. DeSciscio will take X-rays and impressions of your smile to determine the treatment plan. If extreme malocclusion is present, Invisalign may not be the right option. Only an experienced dental professional like Dr. DeSciscio can accurately judge the severity of your malocclusion.

Once Invisalign is determined to be a viable course of action and their treatment plan is developed, patients will receive their first set of aligners. Every few weeks they receive a new set, and provided they are worn for at least 22 hours per day, patients will experience a gradually straighter smile with each new set.
